Pashinyan Administration introduces new hazard prevention regulations at construction sites over air pollution levels
The Armenian government introduced new regulations to mitigate air pollution resulting from construction sites, Armenpress.
By law, construction contracts will from now on include regulations on anti-air pollution requirements, labor safety, sanitary and technical safety and environmental norms. Failure to adhere to the regulations will result in suspended construction or penalties.
Speaking at the Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that standards must be set for construction sites. "This is about defining a standard in construction sites, in what condition the site must be, in what condition the workers must be, what gear they should wear and what safety measures must be taken. We have multi-layer issues here, also because we saw in the past the level of dust in Yerevan when there was a construction boom. On the other hand, we constantly get warnings that very high levels of air pollution have been recorded in Yerevan. One of the reasons for this is failure to adhere to standards in construction sites. We must be consistent in this issue," Pashinyan said.
