Despite crisis, Nagorno Karabakh’s capital organizes New Year Tree lighting ceremony to cheer up children under blockade
In an effort to cheer up children amid the blockade, Stepanakert City Hall decided not to cancel the National New Year Tree Lighting Ceremony and is inviting residents to attend the ceremony in the capital of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh).
"Dear countrymen, despite the numerous inconveniences as a result from the blockade, the Stepanakert City Hall decided not to deprive our children from New Year mood. Thus, we invite everyone to the S. Shahumyan Circle Park at 18:00, December 23 for the National New Year Tree Lighting Ceremony. An interesting show program with participation of children is also expected….We are looking forward to seeing you all there," the City Hall said in the statement.
Azerbaijan is keeping the Lachin Corridor blocked since December 12. The corridor is Nagorno Karabakh’s only connection with Armenia and the rest of the world. Essential supplies, such as food and medicine, are disrupted.
