Estonia expresses support for EU monitoring mission along Armenia's border with Azerbaijan
Estonia wants to see the South Caucasus region peaceful and stable, which is also a necessary precondition for Armenia’s successful and prosperous future, the President of Estonia Alar Karis said in a statement on social media after a meeting with visiting Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Armenpress reports.
“We hope that the tensions will be resolved through negotiations and not violent conflict. It is highly important to achieve comprehensive and sustainable peace through negotiations with support from the international community,” President Karis said.
In a separate statement posted on Twitter, President Karis also expressed Estonia’s support to the EU monitoring mission.
“Estonia supports launching the EU´s monitoring mission along Armenia´s border with Azerbaijan,” the Estonian President tweeted.
President Karis said the CEPA between Armenia and the EU, and cooperation in Eastern Partnership gradually deepen the ties between Armenia and the EU, which is a good opportunity to intensify bilateral cooperation in areas such as e-governance, innovation, technology, education and culture.
