Iran stopped larger Azerbaijani attacks against Armenia, deputy FM tells Al-Monitor
Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan has said that Iran’s actions and statements helped to stop larger Azerbaijani attacks against Armenia in September 2022.
"We had intelligence that larger attacks were being prepared by Azerbaijan when it attacked Armenia last September. Iranian actions and statements helped to stop a further deterioration of that situation," Kostanyan told Al-Monitor in an interview on Tuesday.
The deputy foreign minister highlighted that Iran is an important partner for Armenia Panorama.am reports.
"The border with Iran is of utmost importance to us. We have two closed borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan, thus Iran and Georgia are our only gates to the outside world," Kostanyan said
