US-Israeli Complicated Relations
The Israeli-US dispute over the Iranian nuclear deal continues. According to the Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu the upcoming deal with Iran could "threaten the survival of Israel", as Iran is considered a "sponsor of state terrorism," Washington Post reports. Netanyahu declared about this at the annual policy conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). Despite the fact that the US President Barack Obama refused to meet the Israeli Prime Minister, explaining that the White House policy does not allow meeting with foreign leaders soon before their elections, Netanyahu in his speech assured that "rumors about a crisis in relations between Israel and the US are not true," newsru.co.il reports. Netanyahu even stressed that he appreciates everything President Obama has done for Israel.
To come back to the controversial topic on the Iranian nuclear deal, it should be mentioned that the announcements made by the official Israel were not left unanswered. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared that the increase of anti-Israeli sentiments is a sign of "divine help". As Jerusalem Post informs, Khamenei also declared that the day when the West will realize that "their problems result from Zionism’s hegemony over governments they will make an inescapable hell for them."
The fact that the Israeli-US relations are not the same as before, and in this a great, but not the only role has plays the talks on the Iranian nuclear program, is obvious. On the other hand it is very difficult to say whether Iran will accept all the preconditions that will be put in front of it. On March 2 the US President Barack Obama declared that Iran should agree to freeze sensitive nuclear activity for at least 10 years if it wants to strike a deal with the US, BBC reports. However, Iran, without waiting for the start of the talks, has already rejected Obama's demand. The Foreign Minister of Israel Mohammad Javad Zarif stated, that Obama's stance is "unacceptable and threatening" and that "Iran will not accept excessive and illogical demands."
In such a difficult and complicated situation it is not easy to assume, whether the talks will succeed or not. A lot will depend on Netanyahu's address before the US Congress on the Iranian nuclear program...
