Greece’s Reform Proposals Have Been Rejected by Creditors

Eurozone Finance Minister’s group in Brussels rejected the Greek referendum proposal on Sunday. The proposal was sent to the creditors two weeks ago in order to prove a four- month loan extension. Eurogroup chairman Jeroen Dijsselbloem said on Sunday, that the list of measures that also includes hiring non-professional tax collectors such as tourists, is far from being complete and the country probably would not receive an aid disbursement this month, Bloomberg reports.

Greece is under the risk to run out of cash in this month. European central Bank approved that banks of Greece have been kept afloat by an Emergency Liquidity Assistance salvation. They do not have access to capital market, the only financial sources are emergency loans from the euro area’s crisis fund and the International Monetary Fund.

Financial Minister Varoufakis told that they have budget only to pay salaries and pensions of public employees. The minister pressures on Greece’s lenders to accept Athens’s latest reform proposals on Monday otherwise the rejection will be reason for the new elections in the country.

The idea of undercover tax collectors, which suggest to hire tourists to work temporarily as undercover tax collectors, seems very unserious and skeptic for Eurogroup members.

The idea about under covered tax collectors shows that the country has serious problem about corruption inside. The best solution is not to push the creditors, but to push the national institutions and governmental bodies to work hard to solve the problems that come from inside the country. The idea also can be unhealthy among tourist and the private sector who is involved in tourism. More than 50 percent of GDP in Greece is created by tourism expenditure. The idea can jeopardize the tourism sector which is the main revenue for the most island’s inhabitants.
