Will the Situation in Ukraine Again Deteriorate?

After the fighting in South-Eastern Ukraine resumed, the Ukrainian Parliament accelerated the adoption of the law on the legal regime of martial law, and on June 11, the law entered into force. The bill itself was introduced to the parliament by the president Petro Potroshenko on April of this year.

As Russia Beyond the Headlines writes, the bill says that the president can declare with his decree martial law throughout the Ukrainian territory or in its individual regions with the consent of the Verkhovna Rada. Martial law shall end with the expiry of the decree. The decree will spell out tasks of military commands, military administrations and local self-government bodies pertaining to the legal regime of martial law.

In the explanatory note it is stated that the law is to widen the range and make the content of the measures of martial law more detailed, to introduce guarantees of the activities of the president, the parliament, more precisely regulate the administration and the lifting of martial law regime, to normalize the activities and powers of the military command, public authorities under martial law.

According to the Voice of Ukraine, this opportunity is provided exclusively within the time constraints of the constitutional rights and freedoms, the rights and interests of legal entities, provided by presidential decree on the introduction of martial law.

At the same time with the introduction of martial law in Ukraine, the same day, on June 11, a number of laws on the termination of cooperation with Russia in the military sphere entered into force.

All of this suggests a high probability of a resumption of war between Russia and Ukraine, which is confirmed by many experts. The probability of a resumption of war will many times increase, if the official results of the investigation of the Malaysian Boeing that was shot down are unveiled, as well as if the World Cup -2018 in Russia fails...
