Abbas Gave Hamas Deadline for Joining the New Unity Government
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas gave Hamas a deadline for joining the new unity government, The Jerusalem Post reports. In an interview with Al-Arabia, he said that the deadline is June 30 and if Hamas and other Palestinian factions want to join, then they should accept the PLO’s political program.
One of the demands of PLO is the recognition of the three principles outlined by the Quartet: a Palestinian state must recognize Israel without prejudging what various grievances or claims are appropriate; abide by previous diplomatic agreements; and renounce violence as a means of achieving goals.
