Aram Navasardyan: We Should Engage More Youth in Our Activities
"Armedia" IAA presents an exclusive interview with Aram Navasardyan, an activist of the youth wing of the Armenian community in Almaty. The Interview was conducted in the framework of "Armenia-Kazakhstan: Cooperation Platforms" project, with the support of Embassy of Kazakhstan in Armenia.
- Will you, please, tell in what is the Armenian youth in Kazakhstan engaged?
- Armenian youth is involved in almost all spheres of life in Kazakhstan. They are very talented, as all the Armenians of the world. The local youth is also actively involved in the activities of the Armenian cultural center. Of course, not everyone is so active, but we have to work to attract as many young people in our field of activity as possible, so as to use all their talents and capabilities in the activities regularly held by the Armenian community.
Here we carry out various activities - such, for example, which remained from the Soviet times, the holidays of different nations. This tradition continues in Kazakhstan, and it is very commendable. Among such holidays is May 1 Novruz. During these holidays many representatives of different nations are provided with pavilions, decorated in traditional style: they represent the culture, cuisine of a nation. These events actually strengthen the relations between nations.
- Do you receive any assistance from Armenia – books, video materials, etc.?
- We cooperate both with the Ministry of Diaspora and the Ministry of Culture. From Armenia we receive all the necessary literature, the Ministry of Diaspora in this regard works very hard. In late May, we organized a festival here and presented three Armenian films. I think that in the future similar festivals will be held.
In general, I should note that we have to be law-abiding citizens of Kazakhstan, as here we present Armenia; we also need to be law-abiding citizens of Armenia, and this is a very correct approach.
