Italian Ministry of Finance: Greece Will Not be Alone in Wanting to Leave Eurozone

Economic and Monetary Union of Europe is an imperfect mechanism that needs improvement for further integration of the European Union. This opinion was expressed by the Minister of Economy and Finance of Italy Pier Carlo Padoan in an interview with the Financial Times, TASS reports.

According to the Minister, "in the near future the euro area governments may appear, supported by the majority" that would express dissatisfaction with the existing monetary and economic union. "Therefore, it may happen that any of the countries would likely want to leave the eurozone, not because of the fact that it, like Greece, was in a desperate situation, but because it would take this step in order to more effectively address its problems, " Padoan said.

Padoan expressed confidence that for the creation of "a full economic and monetary union, fiscal union and conduct of fiscal policy is needed."
