Warlick: the US Calls on the Parties to Take Steps for Preserving the Ceasefire

US wants that the tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and in the line of contact in Karabakh conflict zone is reduced, that the ceasefire is respected and a negotiated peaceful settlement of the conflict is reached. This was said by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair James Warlick in response to the question of "Armenpress" about how he assesses the escalation of tension and ceasefire violations by Azerbaijan after the European Games in Baku.

"The US has many times called on the parties to take steps to preserve the ceasefire, the same thing was said during the last meeting with the sided in the region. We hope that the sides will show restraint, as it has been in recent months. This will only contribute to the final solution of the question. If the parties really want a settlement through negotiations, they should ease the tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and in the line of contact in Karabakh conflict zone," Warlick said.
