40 Thousand Britons Demand to Arrest Israeli Prime Minister

In the UK, more than 40 thousand people have signed the petition put on the website of the Parliament for arresting the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It should be noted that he will leave for London in September. As Nersru.com informs, the petition was initiated by Damien Morann, who calls for arresting Netanyahu, as according to him the Israeli Prime Minister in accordance with international law should be take responsibility as a war criminal guilty for the deaths of more than 2,000 Palestinians in 2014.

It should be noted that according to Hamas and the UN Office for Refugees as a result of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip more than 2,000 people have been killed, most of whom were civilians. Israel, in its turn claims that more than 1000 of the dead people were militants blaming Hamas for those deaths.

According to the British law, the online petitions, which collect more than 10 thousand signatures, should receive an official comment from the British Government. If it exceeds 100 thousand signatures, the petition must be submitted for parliamentary discussion.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said that this petition is a "pointless PR campaign," noting that Israel has never been in so close relations with the UK.

In addition, NEWSru Israel recalls that under international law, Prime Minister Netanyahu has diplomatic immunity, therefore, the Israeli Prime Minister will not face the risk of being arrested.
