Yemeni President Returned to the Country

Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi returned to the country. Al-Arabiya News referring to its sources reports that he has landed in Aden the first time since he left for Saudi Arabia as Houthi rebels took control in March. A government source said Hadi would spend the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday in Aden and then fly to New York to deliver a speech at the United Nations.

Earlier after almost 6 months of exile Yemeni government also returned to the country. Yemeni Prime Minister Khaled Bahah and seven ministers returned to the southern port of Aden, although the situation on the ground remains tense and various incidents are recorded periodically. Mansour Hadi announced Aden the temporary capital after capital Sanaa and the northern regions appeared to be under the control of Houthi rebels.

The government was evacuated from Aden in March 2015, when Houthi rebels seized the city. The Saudi led coalition forces ejected the rebels from Aden in July and have since recaptured four other southern provinces, AFP reports.

More than 5,000 people have been killed in five months of war in Yemen. Some 25,000 have been wounded since late March, while 21 million of 25 million out of Yemen's population have been affected by the conflict. Human rights group Amnesty International said in a report that both sides of the conflict are guilty for war crimes.

Meanwhile the Arab led coalition continued its airstrikes against Houthi militias in several Yemeni cities. More than 20 people were killed yesterday as a result of the bomb attack in Yemen's capital Sanaa. Earlier coalition airstrikes resulted in the death of 30 people. The main target was the old town of the capital.
