Davutoglu's Main Points at the UN General Assembly Speech

Recently the 70th session of the UN General Assembly completed in New York. From the tribune of the global organization presidents of 17 countries including US President Barack Obama, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, French President Francois Hollande, President of China Xi Jinping, President Serzh Sargsyan and others gave a speech.

It should be noted that this year the absence of Turkish President was noteworthy. The UN Assembly was attended by presidents of all countries, but Turkey was represented by the Prime Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu.

According to the information revealed by Turkish magazine Nokta, former deputy of National Movement (MHP) party Lutfi Tyurkane, said that although Turkey has tried to do everything possible to organize a meeting between Erdogan and the US President Barack Obama, the latter refused to meet with Erdogan, and that is the reason why Turkish PM has traveled to US.

Like every year, this year also the dual elements of the Turkish government’s policy were evident in the speech.  Mainly Syrian current situations, problems relating to refugees, Israel-Palestine and, of course, Karabakh-Azerbaijan conflict settlement issues were emphasized.

Referring to the situation in Syria, Davutoglu said that Syrian President Bashar Assad must be removed from the political arena. And the Syrian crisis is because of DAISH, "Islamic state" terrorist group.

"However, we will never succeed in combating this gang until Assad is gone," he said.

Talking about the refugee problems, it can be said that Davutoglu, forgetting the widespread massacres against Kurds by the Turkish authorities, wanted to ascribe the Turkish authorities high qualities of humanity, announcing that Turkey receives more than 2 million 200 thousand Syrians and Iraqis.

"We have a large investment in this area, we have spent more than $8 billion, while international aid has totaled $400 million," he said.

According to him security zones should be created in Syria which will protect from air strikes and terrorist acts.

Regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Davutoglu called on Israel to stop the "illegal and inhumane" blockade of Gaza that has lasted for about 8 years. He said that Turkey will continue to support Palestine economically and politically. It is noteworthy that from the UN tribune, passing to his dual policy, Davutoglu blamed Israel, meanwhile the cooperation between the two countries is obvious.

And, of course, Azerbaijan's number one ally and the "Big Brother" couldn’t help talking about the Karabakh conflict settlement. According to him Azerbaijan’s borders are important for Turkey.

"The conflict should be resolved peacefully. It should be done taking into account the sovereignty, territorial integrity and borders of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized principles, "he said.

It is noteworthy that instead of promoting a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Turkey supports Azerbaijan's provocative and destructive actions, and then demonstrates the world the need for peaceful resolution of the conflict.
