Sergei Lavrov - John Kerry Meeting
The foreign minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov and the Secretary of State of the United States John Kerry launched a bilateral meeting in Vienna, Austria, as Interfax reports.
The talks, which are expected to be devoted to the settlement of the Syrian crisis, are held behind closed doors in the hotel "Imperial".
Earlier it was reported that Sergei Lavrov arrived in Vienna, where he and his colleagues from the US, Saudi Arabia and Turkey discussed the situation in Syria, as well as took part in a meeting of the Middle East "Quartet" (Russia, US, EU, UN).
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Lavrov said yesterday that a quadripartite format is insufficient to resolve the Syrian crisis. In his opinion, this issue should involve Iran, Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan. Lavrov added that some of these countries "may well be in Vienna, but on parallel meetings." Russia is ready to work with them, he said.
