Abraham Beat Murray with Difficulty
Hanover hosted an evening of professional boxing, in the main event of which the world champion in the super middleweight according the WBO 35-year-old Arthur Abraham (44-4, 29 KOs) won a 33-year-old Briton Martin Murray (01/03/32, 15 KOs).
The fight turned out to be intriguing and exciting. Throughout the fight the initiative passed from hand to hand, boxers threw almost the same number of strokes. The first six rounds passed absolutely smoothly. Closer to the championship round Abraham was able to impose on his opponent his usual power box, but Murray also successfully counterattacked. In the 11th round a point was taken from Martin for frequent retention.
At the end of 12 rounds the judges opinion was divided: one thought that Murray was stronger (115-112), while two others preferred the current champion (115-112), (116 -111).
