The Day of Presenting Books in Armenia

With the decision of the Chairman of the Armenian Writers' Union Levon Ananyan, on February 19 Armenia marks a national holiday - Day of presenting books, calend.ru reports.
The date has been chosen due to the fact that on February 19, 1865 Armenian greatest poet and writer, a major public figure Hovhannes Tumanyan was born. Tumanyan left a diverse literary heritage, which harmoniously combines prose and poetry, fairy tales and fables, poetry and ballads.
Today, in honor of this Day various events are being carried out in the country, dedicated to the book. After all, book not yet so long ago was one of the most desired gifts. And now Armenia tries to revive the old tradition, and bring the younger generation interest in books.
