Assad Appointed the Date of the Parliamentary Elections in Syria

The Syrian President Bashar Assad appointed the next parliamentary elections in the country on April 13, BBC reports.

The corresponding decree has already been issued and published. Elections are held in connection with the expiration of the term of office of the current members elected in 2012. Those elections were the first since the beginning of the armed conflict in the country.

Earlier it was reported that the US and Russia have agreed on a truce in Syria. It is expected to come into force on February 27 but for that the truce should be supported by all parties to the conflict except the organizations that the UN has recognized as terrorist ones.
