Ohanyan Met Minsk Group C0-Chiairs
Armenian Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan on April 8 met with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs James Warlick, Igor Popov and Pierre Andrieu. The meeting was also attended by the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk, the Defense Ministry press-service reports.
The meeting addressed the large-scale offensive operations unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh in the recent days, as well as the possible developments,
At the request of the interlocutors the Defense Minister of Armenia referred to the situation after the military operations on the contact line of Karabakh-Azerbaijan forces. Seyran Ohanyan drew the attention of the Co-Chairs on the main peculiarities of the explicit aggression of the Azerbaijani side in the recent days, which include the war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani armed forces against Armenian servicemen and civilians and the severe violation of other provisions of rights in an armed conflict.
The Armenian Defense Minister stated that the heroic and skillful measures of NKR Defense Army ensured the full rebuff of Azerbaijani military aggression, preventing future measures of the adversary. It was stated that despite the readiness of the Republic of Armenia to get involved in restraining the adversary by precise targets and taking new and favorable frontiers, it still continues to rely on a negotiated settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
As a prerequisite for alleviation of the armed confrontation, the Defense Minister highlighted reinforcement of any kind of ceasefire by legally binding agreement”.
