Lavrov to Raise the Issue of Iran Joining the SCO

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is going to raise the issue of Iran joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) at the meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers, Russian President's special representative for SCO affairs Bakhtiyor Khakimov told the reporters, RIA Novosti reports.
"For example, we recall the request of Iran, Afghanistan. If we take strictly in chronological order, the first application was filed by Iran in 2006. But officially, the proper application Tehran filed in 2008," he said.
