How the Last Bell is Celebrated in the World
Today, on May 27, Armenian school graduates celebrate their last bell. In the morning in all schools of our country have been celebrations in which hundreds of thousands students said goodbye to their teachers and classmates.
Around the world, there are different traditions of celebrating this event. Let us tell about some of them.
In USA, the Prom (Promenade – ''walk'') is a very important and responsible event. Boys rent luxury limousines, and the girls put on their chic evening dresses.
In France, for a hundred days before the final exam students have the right not to attend classes and arrange their holidays.
In Scotland school graduates usually do not organize anything, because many of them fail the final exams. But a lot of students do not want to deprive themselves from a little joy so they party all night at clubs or pubs.
The graduation party in Sweden, as a rule, goes on the whole day. It begins with a luxury breakfast with champagne and strawberries. Then, after the official part, the graduates throw caps into the air.
In China, after the "last bell", all the streets in the cities are thoroughly cleaned. According to the tradition, the graduates throw out of the windows everything that reminds the school - notebooks, pens, diaries, and even a school form!
In Cuba, everything goes official: but only late at night, after all the necessary formalities, everyone goes to the beach and has fun until the morning.
In Norway, funny costumes are usually made for the graduation celebrations. On the night of May 1st classmates write wishes to each other on those costumes. Then everybody goes to the city center, where the party begins and lasts for 17 days!
In South Africa, the end of the school year comes with the end of the calendar year. Graduation ceremonies are held in November. And as a rule the whole family comes to those ceremonies dressed ethnic costumes.
