June 1: the History of This Day
June 1 is celebrated as Children’s Day in many countries of the world. The World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland, proclaimed June 1 to be International Children's Day in 1925. The day is used to bring awareness to children around the globe that have succumbed to violence in forms of abuse, exploitation and discrimination.
International Day of Child Protection has its own flag. Green background (symbol for freshness and fertility) depicted on the sign of the Earth, around which red, yellow, blue, white and black children are placed. They symbolize diversity and tolerance.
