Turkey Launched an Air Operation in Northern Syria

The Turkish military and the U.S.-led coalition forces launched an operation in the Jarablus region of Syria to sweep the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) jihadist group from its borders early on August 24, Hurriyet reports.
The operation called "Fırat Kalkanı" (Euphrates Shield) began at around 4 a.m. with the Turkish artillery units launching a total of 224 fires on 63 targets within around two hours which was followed four separate air operations by the Turkish and coalition warplanes bombing ISIL targets.
