Germany Rejected Turkey’s Demand on Armenian Genocide Resolution
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has rejected the demand of his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, who said that the deputies of the Bundestag will be allowed to visit Incirlik only if the German government distances itself from the resolution of Parliament, condemning the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.
"I do not see a direct connection between these conditions and already said it to Turkish colleagues", said Steinmeier, 112.international reports.
The German Foreign Minister also drew attention to the fact that if Turkey wants the Federal parliament to prolong the term of service of German soldiers in Incirlik, then Germany should have the chance to see its soldiers. Otherwise German parliament deputies will not approve the extension of the document, which expires in December, 2016, Ermenihaber reports, referring to Diken news website.
