Armenia's Newly Appointed Prime Minister Instructed to Revise the Price Policies for Natural Gas and Electricity
Armenia’s newly appointed Prime Minister started his first meeting with the cabinet by issuing recommendations, Tert.am reports.
He asked the Head of State Revenue Committee Hovik Hovsepyan to maximum reduce inspections in small- and medium-sized enterprises. "Tax inspections must be carried out exclusively in high-risk companies; small- and medium-sized enterprises must come under [inspection] only in extremely rare cases," the Prime Minister said, calling for further efforts towards ensuring transparency and ruling out subjective conduct by customs officers.
The premier also stressed the need of implementing the said recommendation without hampering businesses’ work. "No inspections should hamper their daily activities," he added.
Karapetyan’s second recommendation, for revising the natural gas and electricity tariffs, was for the Public Services Regulatory Commission, the ministers of labor and social affairs, and energy and natural resources. "I propose that the Public Services Regulatory Commission and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs conduct joint discussions and submit proposals for revising the price policies for natural gas and electricity. What I mean is to maximum reduce the tariff for the socially vulnerable at the expense of other consumers," he said.
