Turkish Director: Turkey Does not Like Kurds, Alevis and Armenians
Turkey does not like Kurds, Alevis and Armenians, Turkish director, screenwriter, producer Tomris Giritoghlun announced during the discussion on discrimination in Turkish soap operas, the Ermenihaber reports referring to "Agos" weekly.
"Sometimes I think that what we have done in the past, it was madness. I have noticed that this country does not like Kurds, Alevis and Armenians'', said Tomris Giritoghlun.
The scriptwriter Gaye Boraleoghlun also noted that the inclusion of minorities in this area is very complicated. As an example, he pointed to the Kurdish question. "It is the biggest problem, but it has never been presented in soap operas. ... We cannot speak about the issue of religion and religious clashes. For example, according to a soap opera script, the boy has to introduce his Alevi girlfriend to his mother, but before the first meeting he asks the girl to hide that fact. This part was cut off 2 hours before it was to be displayed by TV. "
