Andre Simonian: What is Different About My Project is that I didn't Start It For My Ego (EXCLUSIVE)
"Armedia" IAA presents an exclusive interview with the founder of the band "The Beautified Project", Andre Simonian.
- Recently you presented your "Pale Nightingale" album, which includes 8 songs. What are the main messages of the songs to the world?
- When we recorded our third album, United We Fall, the message was very important to us. It was a concept album about greed and death... when we recorded Pale Nightingale we just wanted nice melodic songs which would withstand the test of time and would be remembered. However there's a song called "Don't Blame Me" on this album which has a social message and it is about bringing different nations with troubled pasts, closer to each other.
- An event with your participation "Promoting Social Changes through the Arts" is going to take place on October 29. What is the main aim of the event and whose idea was to organize it?
- I have been doing talks and workshops on this important subject for the past two years, because I believe in the amazing soft power of art. For this specific event I am invited by a very nice and wise lady called Gayane Yeghiazaryan. This time my talk will be in English language.
- According to you, what is the uniqueness of "The Beautified Project" band?
- I think what is different about my project is that I didn't start it for my ego or to gain popularity. I don't even enjoy being in the spot light. Moreover, I didn't create a band to live a rock & roll dream or to have an excuse to consume a lot of drugs and alcohol by hiding behind the "rock & roll" cliché.... it was simply an ESCAPE from a reality called life ... I am the least rock & roll person you will ever meet. I like to drink tea a lot and I don't even remember when was the last time I went to a pub or a club. And maybe that is what sets us apart from the army of musician who are in it for the "cool" factor.
- What further plans do you have?
- Taking a break from beautified for a while and enjoying the nature. After recording for 2 years and concerts in 10 different countries, I think I deserve it. I just hope my fingers and the strings will survive being apart for a while.
