We Have Reached a New Milestone in the EU-RA Relations: Expert

The RA Presidnet Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to Brussels was important in the context of the RA-EU relations for adjusting the clocks and setting new guidelines for the development of that cooperation. This was declared by the expert of "Insight" Analytical Center for Applied Policy and Research, Anna Karapetyan.

"The meetings of the RA President in Brussels come to prove this. President Sargsyan met with the heads of the main institutions of the EU. During the meeting it was stressed that the RA-EU relations are dynamically developing and today we have reached a new milestone, as the negotiations on the RA-EU framework agreement are over and it is expected to sign it soon," the expert mentioned.

Talking about the new RA-EU agreement and its importance, Karapetyan mentioned, that this was the result of consistent and active negotiations launched on December, 2015. "The fact that it was possible to complete the negotiations on the new framework agreement within a year is also conditioned by the fact that its political side was already negotiated and agreed in the framework of the Association agreement, and the political part of the negotiations is based mainly on the Association agreement."

"The main difference of the new agreement is that there are some changes made in the economic part taking into consideration the membership in the EAEU and our commitments in that framework," the expert mentioned.
