Armenia Can Become a Bridge for EAEU-France Economic Cooperation

The official visit of the RA President Serzh Sargsyan to France is over - a country with which Armenia has traditionally formed friendly relations. A proof of this are the number of high level meetings and the announcements made.

Armenia as a bridge between France and the EAEU

The meeting with the French President Hollande was quite significant. During that meeting the RA President Serzh Sargsyan stressed that high level political dialogue can become a strong basis for economic cooperation. According to the President, Armenia as a member of the EAEU can become a bridge for the French partners to the EAEU market, while good relations of Iran and France can also contribute to France-Iran economic cooperation. "By having good relations with Iran, having maintained good relations with it when under sanctions, knowing the Iranian market and the people of Iran, Armenia can be useful for French companies," President said.

French-Armenian economic cooperation has new opportunities for development

In its relations with France Armenia has always attached importance to not only to more deepening of the political cooperation, but also to the development of the economic component. An evidence of this is meeting of the President Serzh Sargsyan with the members of the largest employer federation in France Mouvement des entreprises de France (MEDEF).

"Even though the trade and economic indicators in our country are not gratifying at all, considering the entire of the Armenian-French agenda, potential existing in our bilateral economic relations should not be used to promote the commercial ties only. We want the French capital to increase its share in Armenia and are ready to provide favorable investment conditions for French businesses," the President mentioned adding that Armenia carries out consistent work towards the encouragement of investments and their increased protection.

Serzh Sargsyan has also mentioned that to help the businesses and improve the business climate, consistent steps are being taken to reduce paperwork and simplify procedures, including in the tax and customs areas.

Armenia-Diaspora relations should be endowed with new quality  

During each official visit, especially after the first Pan-Armenian visit, meeting of the RA President Serzh Sargsyan with the Armenian community of the particular country has already become a tradition. During the meeting with the representatives of Armenian communities of Europe, Serzh Sargsyan mentioned the importance of mutual trust, unity and responsibility in Armenia-Diaspora relations, inviting the compatriots to become immediate participants to the development of the policies in Armenia for the advancement in different areas and works aimed at calling them to life.

"Through the joint efforts, Armenia and Diaspora can gradually implement our structural goals, refraining at the same time from disappointment and disenchantment. It is necessary to find new solutions, to unite, to become one fist, complementing and helping each other to move forward in these challenging times," the President mentioned.

Thus, the official visit of Serzh Sargsyan to France once again stressed the depth of Armenia-France relations and the existence of the potential of their more development. And in this the Armenian community has its special and bridging role.
