RA Defense Minister: Armenia Develops Its Foreign Policy within the Inetsection of the Interersts of Global Players
Armenia tries to develop its foreign relations not by the clash of the interests of global players, but by their intersection. This gives an opportunity not to divide the world into only black and white. This was declared by the RA Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan at the first visiting session of Valdai International Discussion Club held on February 11 in Armenia.
"We understand it quite well that without deep cooperation, joint solution of difficult problems, we, as regional, global society will face terrorism, threats to a series of security issues," Vigen Sargsyan said.
Referring to integration processes he mentioned that "the development of the relations of the RA with the EU is fully within the paradigm of the relations with the EAEU. Our membership in the EAEU does not create any obstacles both for political and economic relations with the EU." The basis of integration, according to Sargsyan, should be the combination of values, pursuing common interests.
The RA Defense Minister also referred to the military-political cooperation of the RA with the CSTO and NATO.
He mentioned that one of the cornerstones of our foreign policy is military-political cooperation also in the framework of the CSTO. Attaching great importance to the development of peacekeeping missions in the framework of CSTO, Sargsyan also mentioned that the combination of foreign political vectors among the SCTO countries is not being implemented that effectively.
"In international platform we also see a tendency of not taking into consideration the mutual interests, which we consider "children's diseas" of the structure, which after some period will be cured," he said. At the same time the Minister attached importance to the RA cooperation with NATO.
