Dutch Politician Urges to Deport the Turkish Ambassador and Deprive Turks of their Citizenship
Dutch far-right leader Geert Wilders in a televised clash on Monday night with Prime Minister Mark Rutte has called for Turkey’s ambassador to the Netherlands to be expelled in the wake of the row that erupted between the two countries over the weekend.
Wilders said that he supports the government's decision to ban campaign speeches of Turkish ministers in Netherlands. But at the same time he stressed that this decision is not enough; tougher measures should be taken, Ermenihaber reports, referring to "Haberler" Turkish news agency.
He offers to deport the Turkish ambassador, and deprive Turks living in the Netherlands of their citizenship if they support Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statements.
"They are citizens of the Netherlands. If yes, they should reject Erdogan's statements. If it turns out in the coming days that they support Erdoğan's frantic and tough statements, then I suggest them to leave the Netherlands and never return'', Wilders added.
