The US Prosecutor's Office named the amount of damage caused by Russian hacker Mark Vartanyan, who created a malicious computer virus. This is stated in a press release of the Office of Federal Prosecutor for the Northern District of Georgia John Horn, crimerussia.com reports.
"Russian citizen Mark Vartanyan, also known as Kolypto, allegedly designed, improved and supported the malicious program Citadel. According to industry estimates, Citadel has damaged about 11 million computers worldwide and caused damage amounting to more than $500 million," the report states.
Earlier it was reported that Russian citizen Mark Vartanyan was extradited from Norway to the US on charges of cybercrime.
