EU will Provide Armenia with 10 Million Euros

The EU will provide Armenia 10 million Euros to assist in saving irrigation water in the Ararat valley. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Armenia Armen Harutyunyan, NEWS.am reports.
Now the program is being developed by the Armenian Agricultural Development Fund and the French Development Agency.
From 10 million Euros, 5 million will be allocated for the introduction of drip irrigation system for farmers.
The remaining 5 million will be allocated for enlargement of agricultural land (the larger the land, the lower the cost of one unit of surface irrigation systems, currently the land of Armenian farmers is very fragmented).
In addition, institutional support will be provided to the Water Economy Committee of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
