Open-Air Exhibition of Sculptures at Swan Lake in Yerevan
With the support of the RA Ministry of Culture and on the initiative of ART PR Company, from August 15 to September 30, a unique exhibition of sculptor Ashot Harutyunyan's sculptures will be presented at Swan Lake in Yerevan, the press service of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia reports.
The composer, art critic Ara Haytayan said in his speech: "The swan lake today presents itself as a sculptural exhibition hall. The mirror surface of the constantly changing water is the platform where metal sculptures by artist Ashot Harutyunyan are represented. An abstract artist with an abstract thinking in Armenia and as an artist of its kind using the post-Soviet industrial scrap and modern metal products turns it into a fascinate embodiment of his memoirs and aesthetics. The initiators of the exhibition are hopeful that their swinging Swan lake will be viewed as an initiative to expose the unused potential of Swan Lake. This is also an opportunity to discover individuals who are struggling in contemporary art and it’s the first experience and precedent in their form, it can become a traditional way of presenting art in the future. "
More than 20 sculptures, some of which have already been placed on the lake, and others on August 15, are on display. The official opening ceremony will take place at 19:00 on the same day.
According to the organizer of the exhibition, director of ART PR Company Gayane Davtyan "These samples of contemporary Armenian sculpture show how to remove ordinary urban and public places from daily routine and move them to the abstract art scene. The abstract art is "preaching" freedom, and this manifestation of freedom is nothing but a peculiar act of breaking stereotypes in urban culture.
This show pretends to be the favourite one for people leaving in Yerevan, as well as for tourists. One of the most important goals of the exhibition is to awaken love among the younger generation towards the city, show love to the city, to show that monumental statues and traditional artists complement other artists in Yerevan."
