Polish Deputy Foreign Minister: I See No Reason Why the New Armenia-EU Agreement Will Not Be Signed
"I see no reason why the new Armenia-EU agreement will not be signed," Deputy Foreign Minister Bartosz Cichocki said in Yerevan at a meeting with journalists.
"I am sure that Armenia understands that relations with the EU are a process in which much more can be obtained with each subsequent step. And this process is mutual," Cichocki said.
The diplomat stressed that the agreement implies not only benefits for Armenia, but also obligations on reforms and observance of certain principles that are "sometimes expensive at the beginning but very useful in the long term. "I know that they understand this well in Armenia," he noted.
Cichocki also expressed hope that the Eastern Partnership summit to be held in Brussels in November will become historical.
"Eastern Partnership is not a provocation for anybody, it does not have geopolitical aspects. If one wins, everyone benefits. Thus, if it helps to develop infrastructure in Armenia, it is profitable for Russian, Chinese and European investor," the diplomat said.
