Iran to Build Two Hydraulic, Solar Power Plants on Armenian Border
Iran plans to construct two hydraulic and solar power plants on its border with Armenia, said head of Iranian delegation of Iran-Armenia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission. Ali Reza Daemi referred to his talks with the Armenian energy minister and the Armenian delegation in the joint commission 50 days ago, saying, "We have good cooperation in the field of rivers, especially Aras River and we are working on the quality issues of the river which is important to us."
Touching on bilateral relations and existing MoUs between Tehran and Yerevan, he also said that Armenia is a good neighbor of Iran and its policy is to strengthen ties with the country, IRNA reports.
Transfer of electricity via a 400 kilowatt line is also on the agenda, he said, noting that currently two 230 kilowatt lines have been set up which are not sufficient and a line with higher capacity is necessary. Currently, Iranian companies are engaged in setting up pylons of 400 kilowatt line, he said.
Iran has extensive cooperation with Armenia in the field of technical knowhow, he said, noting that a hydraulic power plant is under construction near the Armenian border.
A 50-megawatt solar power plant will also be built by the Iranian firms there, Daemi said.
