Artsakh FM. Preserving the Common Border with Artsakh is in Iran’s Interests

panorama.am

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh, Masis Mayilian, in an interview with Iranian political analyst and journalist Salar Seifeddine, stated that the fact that the border between Artsakh and Iran remains closed, is unnatural.

He particularly noted:

"We appreciate Iran’s policy—which is balanced and is primarily neutral—on the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict," he said, in particular. "It should be noted that Iran is the only country in the region that has common borders with all three conflicting parties: the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Artsakh, and Azerbaijan."

"We are interested in having functioning borders and good neighborly relations with all neighboring countries, including Iran," he stressed. "I am convinced that preserving the common border with Artsakh is in Iran’s interests, too. I believe this is in the interests of the other interested players in the region."
