Armenian Minister of Uruguay Refuses to Meet with Erdogan
The Armenian community of Uruguay expressed dissatisfaction with the official visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan scheduled for February 7-8, Rusarminfo reports.
Members of the Armenian community are analyzing ways to demonstrate their discontent with the visit of the Turkish leader to the South American country and are already actively protesting in social networks.
Member of Uruguay government Liliyam Kechichyan in her turn will refuse meeting with members of the Turkish delegation as a protest against Erdogan's visit. Besides, the Armenian community promised to show to the president of Turkey that the Armenians of Uruguay remembered the fact of the Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire.
To remind that Uruguay was the first country in the world, that officially recognized the Armenian Genocide in 1965. The Armenian community of the Republic has about 15 000 members.
