Ara Babloyan Meets with RF FA State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin

On February 14, the delegation headed by the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan within the framework of the working visit to the Russian Federation in Moscow had a meeting with the Speaker of the RF Federal Assembly State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, official page of RA Parliament reports.

The RA NA deputies Hermine Naghdalyan, Artashes Geghamyan, the RA NA Chief of Staff-Secretary General Ara Saghatelyan are in the RA parliamentary delegation. The RA Ambassador to the RF Vardan Toghanyan also attended the meeting.

Thanking the RF State Duma Spaker for the warm reception, the RA NA Speaker underlined that this visit would be one more impetus in the development of the inter-parliamentary relations. The Head of the RA Parliament expressed his gratitude for the organization of the exhibition with a heading "Together" dedicated to the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation and the 300^th anniversary of New Nakhijevan and Russia Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, noting that it is an opportunity for further deepening of bilateral relations.

In the expansion of bilateral relations the RA NA Speaker highly assessed the cooperation existing between the parliaments, in this context evaluating the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the RA National Assembly and the RF Federal Assembly. Ara Babloyan proposed to further activate the cooperation of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee and Parliamentary Committees. The Head of the RA legislative body welcomed the activity of Vyacheslav Volodin, as CSTO PA Chairman, directed to the rise of the role of the structure. The heads of the parliaments discussed the issue of holding the CSTO PA events in Yerevan and Saint Petersburg this year.

Touching upon the proposal of Russia to hold the conference of the Speakers of the parliaments of the Eurasian countries, the RA NA Speaker noted that this platform had already proved its vitality creating an opportunity of dialogue without obstacles. He reaffirmed the willingness of the Armenian side to hold the conference in Armenia in 2020.

Talking about the cooperation on the inter-parliamentary international platforms, Ara Babloyan highlighted more coordinated cooperation based on the mutual cooperation. With regards to this the Head of the parliament expressed his concern about the activities of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), noting that the latter, moving from the essence of its economic activity, had been politicized. At the same time the Head of the RA legislative body highlighted the necessity of strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between the parliaments of the countries of Europe and Asia.

Ara Babloyan informed that the Armenian parliamentarians would actively take part in the observation missions within the framework of the CSTO PA and the IPA CIS.

Noting that the traditional partnership relations serve as a firm basis for further cooperation, the Speaker of the RF FA State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin has stressed that the constructive dialogue between the two countries is at high level, the parliamentary structures cooperate, the cultural and educational ties expand.

After the meeting Ara Babloyan and Vyacheslav Volodin took part in the opening of the exhibition with a heading "Together" dedicated to the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation and the 300^th anniversary of New Nakhijevan and Russia Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
