Serzh Sargsyan Received World Famous Polish Composer Krzysztof Penderecki
Today, on February 15 the RA President Serzh Sargsyan received world-renowned Polish composer and conductor Krzysztof Penderecki and his wife Elzbieta Penderecka. The renowned musician is in Armenia within the framework of his 85th anniversary festival, the press service of the RA President reports.
Welcoming the guests, the President of Armenia noted that they are always welcome to Armenia since the Armenians are fond of and appreciate very much Krzysztof Penderecki and his art.
“Dear Mr. Penderecki, dear Maestro,
I am sure that you are convinced that your art is highly appreciated here in Armenia. It is symbolic that the series of events dedicated to your jubilee throughout the world will start right from Yerevan.
I think that one of the titles of a great artist is to bring people closer together and strengthen friendship between them,” President Sargsyan said and expressed the hope that Maestro Penderecki will continue to strengthen the Armenian-Polish friendship with the same enthusiasm, providing the Armenian audience with the opportunity to enjoy the works of one of the greatest musicians of our times.
Serzh Sargsyan stated with satisfaction that last year Armenia and Poland marked the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations, as well as the 650th anniversary of the formation of the Armenian community in Poland, on the sidelines of which numerous events were held to help promote the Armenian-Polish interstate relationship.
Thanking the President for the reception and his kind remarks, Krzysztof Penderecki said he was happy to see his music being that popular in Armenia.
“I am very glad that the festival dedicated to my jubilee started from Armenia. This is not the first such wonderful festival held in Yerevan. Music performance is really at a high level in Armenia as for the orchestra, conductors and individual musicians. It is a great pleasure for me, my spouse and my family to be in Armenia. I must emphasize that I feel myself Armenian to a quarter as my grandmother has an Armenian origin,” Krzysztof Penderecki said and thanked the authorities for excellent organization of the festival, as well as for the Armenian State’s great attention to culture.
