Member of the European Parliament to Artsakh People: You Won
Via a video message, the Member of the European Parliament Frank Engel sent a congratulatory message during the public rally held in Stepanakert’s Revival Square on the 30th anniversary of Karabakh Movement.
He started and ended his speech in Armenian.
"Բարև Ձեզ (Hello). 30 years ago today people stood on this square to demand referendum, restoration of historical injustice. You - maybe yourselves, people you know, people you knew, stood in this square and demanded that Karabakh (Artsakh) to be restored to the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic.
This call was not heard and war was instead as a result of which you won and overcame difficulties at the expense of great sacrifices. You managed to end up with you own state, your own democracy, with your own institutions, masters of your own destiny for the future.
You acquired the right to dispose your own destiny. I congratulate you on the occasion of the holiday. I appreciate all the efforts you exerted during 30 years. Պինդ եղեք, ամուր կացեք, մենք ձեզ հետ են (Be strong, stay strong, we are with you)."
