Syria Recognized the Independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia

The Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia have agreed on mutual recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations, according to a communiqué published on Tuesday on the website of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry, ''TASS'' reports.
"The Republic of South Ossetia and the Syrian Arab Republic <...> announce mutual recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries at the level of Embassies from the date of publication of this communiqué," the report said.
Syria and Abkhazia also agreed on mutual recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations.
