Earth Pig Year: What to Prepare and How to Decorate the Table in New Year

Almost all of us love New Year celebrations. The meaning of the New Year is to see off the old year and to welcome the new one with new hopes. The most important part of the New Year's preparation around the world is the decoration of the table and the preparation of dishes. Thus, let's try to find out what kind of food should be prepared and how the Christmas table of 2019 should be decorated.

2019 is Year of the Earth Pig and it is preferable to prepare dishes mainly with vegetables and grains. But this does not mean that meat dishes should not be included. In the New Year's menu of 2019 you can include any type of meat, except the symbol of the year – piggy (but it should be noted that it is connected with superstitions).

As the pig is considered to be an" ordinary" animal, the dishes should also be common. It’s better to exclude exotic salads and prepare simple ones with vegetables. As for the dessert, you should give preference to the apple pie, nuts with chocolate candies and fruit cakes. Though the pig likes to eat lot, the New Year table should not be overloaded with high calorie foods. However, this does not mean that there should be fewer dishes. Remember - pigs love abundance.

As for table decoration, the yellow and gilded ribbons will be the most appropriate decoration as they symbolize the color of the year. Tablecloths, dishes and napkins can be selected appropriate with these colors.

It is preferable to put on the table fruits which have yellow color - banana, lemon, apple, pear. And the golden candles will create a festive New Year mood…
