U20 European Championship: Weightlifter Karen Avagyan – Gold Medalist
Karen Avagyan at 89 kg has become a gold medalist of the U20 European Weightlifting Championship being held in Romanian capital Bucharest.
The Armenian weightlifter showed a total of 364 kg result (170kg+194kg). In the snatch Avagyan deserved a small gold medal and in the clean and jerk became a silver medalist.
Another representative of the Armenia team Ara Aghanyan won a silver medal in the same weight class. Aghanyan scored a total of 358 kg (162kg+196kg). He won a small silver medal in the snatch and a gold medal – in the clean and jerk.
Earlier Liana Gyurjyan (81 kg) had won a gold medal and Rafik Harutyunyan (81kg) – a bronze medal in the U20 competition.
