Albania Affected by Devastating Earthquake Appeals to World for Help
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Sunday that he had turned to the international community for financial and expert aid to help the country recover from a devastating earthquake, the Associated Press reports.
Rama noted that the government is redistributing the budget to cope with the crisis, but the country also needs international assistance.
The agency notes that on Saturday evening, the Albanian PM met with the ambassadors of several countries, including representatives of the EU, US, Turkey and Japan and turned to them for help.
An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 occurred on the Adriatic coast of Albania on Tuesday, leaving 51 people killed and 3,000 injured, while thousands of people left homeless.
