Our Influential Diaspora Compatriots Must 'Raise Global Awareness' Of Artsakh

It is time for our influential compatriots in the Diaspora to take the role of special ambassadors globally to spread knowledge about Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabkh) on the international arena and raise that country's voice, and right to be protected from aggression, political analyst Karen Bekaryan today, addressing the latest developments in and around Artsakh.

"The ceasefire regime was disrespected yet another time - regardless even of [US President Donald] Trump's statement that 'the ceasefire is holding'. That's even ridiculous," he said during the analytical broadcast Between the Lines aired by ArmNews TV Channel.

As important trends for the national diplomacy, Bekaryan called a special attention to two major provisions, which he said should lie at the heart of the policymaking in both Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

"For the Republic of Armenia, it is high time to work with the main partners with clearly formed teams of special negotiators to rapidly achieve an outcome. Relying on our relations with separate countries and using the community potentials of the Diaspora, we need to pursue one single task: the recognition of Artsakh's independence," he said, emphasizing also Russia's broader agenda, Tert.am reports.

Meantime the analyst stressed the importance of using the Diaspora's potential to make Artsakh's voice "better heard" to global leaders and decision-makers. "It is the right moment for our compatriots in different world countries -  those whose role and weight allow for entering into a direct dialogue with country leaders and decision-makers - to form part of the Artsakh diplomatic service, assuming the status of a special ambassador in an attempt to raise Artsakh's voice and expectations, and spread global knowledge - from the highest platforms and levels - of Artsakh's right to be protected from aggression," he said.
