Armenian-Georgian Relations And Persian Gulf-Black Sea transport Corridor Were Discussed

Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan today received Ambassador of Georgia to Armenia Giorgi Saganelidze.

Avinyan stated that the strengthening of Armenia-Georgia relations is one of the main directions of Armenia’s foreign policy and, as chairman of the Armenian-Georgian Intergovernmental Commission, he underscored the importance of consistent strengthening of the Armenian-Georgian friendly cooperation.

The Deputy Prime Minister viewed the cooperation in trade and economy as one of the key components of the Armenian-Georgian relations. He also presented the issue of the return of Armenian prisoners of war being kept in Azerbaijan, adding that this is the priority of the Government of Armenia.

The parties touched upon the issues related to the Persian Gulf-Black Sea transport corridor and the new opportunities that the latter has to offer. In the context of improvement of transport communication, they also discussed the course of works for repair of the roads leading from the Bavra and Gogavan border checkpoints to the depths of Georgia.

Avinyan and Saganelidze discussed the North-South energy corridor, the works that have already been completed and the future actions.
