Yerevan Court Releases Mher Sargsyan Detained Under Fake Facebook User Case, Rejects Motion for Arrest
The Yerevan court of general jurisdiction today ruled to release Mher Avagyan, who had been detained under the criminal case regarding the "Gagik Soghomonyan" fake Facebook user account.
Avagyan’s attorney Mikayel Shkhimyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the court declared the decision of the investigator of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia to detain Mher Avagyan unlawful, satisfied the attorney’s appeal and rejected the motion of the investigator to select arrest as a pre-trial measure for Avagyan.
On Feb. 19, officers of the NSS conducted searches in the offices of former chief of staff of the National Assembly Ara Saghatelyan, analyst Karen Bekaryan, Azerologist Anzhela Elibegova and constitutional expert Gohar Meloyan, seized their phones and computers and apprehended them.
