Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister of Turkey Etyen Mahcupyan commented on the Turkish president’s invitation directed to the president of Armenian to participate in the 100th anniversary of Canakkale (Dardanelles) military operations.
Ermenihaber.am reports that Mahcupyan attached importance to this step of the Turkish president stating that during Canakkale (Dardanelles) military operations not only the Turks but also the Armenians died. According to Mahcupyan, the Armenian presidents should at least send representatives to Turkey to participate in the event, if he feels attached to those Armenians, who died during military operations.
It also should be noted that Etyen Mahcupyan restrained from calling the massacre of 1.500.000 Armenians as Genocide instead refereeing to those events as "deportation of the Armenians".
