One of the most influential political parties in Turkey Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), which has 29 seats in the Parliament has presented three Armenian candidates for nomination for the upcoming general elections in Turkey to take place on June 7, Horizon Weekly reports referring to Today’s Zaman.
The Armenian candidates are Filor Uluk, Murad Mıhçı and Diren Cevahir. This was announced by the Nor Zartonk spokesperson Sayat Tekir. "We, as the Armenian community, have gone without representation for 55 years. Therefore, it is with great excitement that I present to you three Armenian preliminary candidates for the upcoming June election,’ – Tekir told Today’s Zaman. The spokesperson of Nor Zartonq called this a historical opportunity and expressed hope that the Armenian candidates will be able to surpass the 10% threshold.
